But, again, as last year, we may hold off on tapping them. If the drought is enough of a stressor to the trees, I don't want my sweet tooth to be the killing blow.

Maple syrup is made from collected sap, that is boiled in large pans outdoors to release the huge amount of water and leave syrup behind. Although concentrations vary from year to year, we find it takes about 40 gallons of collected sap to yield 1 gallon of maple syrup!nina at Nature Remains.https://www.blogger.com/profile/07888238636692649668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7757093280387768593.post-24928434485207882682008-10-15T02:41:00.000-04:002008-10-15T02:41:00.000-04:00Cannot remember seeing you earlier, but will proba...Cannot remember seeing you earlier, but will probably returnArneAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08532050427854977774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7757093280387768593.post-81711461202075117032008-10-15T02:38:00.000-04:002008-10-15T02:38:00.000-04:00A marvellous mighty maple indeed - with its own me...A marvellous mighty maple indeed - with its own menagerie!

Gary
Bodge's BulletinAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09500194484043227041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7757093280387768593.post-72321849735785422552008-10-15T00:29:00.000-04:002008-10-15T00:29:00.000-04:00Mother Maple--a senior tree.I think I like her.Per...Mother Maple--a senior tree.
I think I like her.
Perfect for letter M on ABC Wednesday.

Bear((( ))) Bear Nakedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10911207797995309155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7757093280387768593.post-82472158044811654662008-10-15T00:19:00.000-04:002008-10-15T00:19:00.000-04:00that hummingbird nest is the neatest thing.
