Good night

My fire was in all its glory about midnight, and, having made a bark shed to shelter me from the rain and partially dry my clothing, I had nothing to do but look and listen and join the trees in their hymns and prayers.~John Muir

A perfect evening for a fire. The air is crisp. Frogs are calling, muskrats swimming in the light of the crescent moon. The first firefly of summer is lost--wandering alone near the rising sparks.

Lovely fire -- I can feel its warmth --and smell the smoke. Who has the marshmallows ?

WE DID have marshmallows--some of the best I've ever eaten: just perfectly golden browned, soft centered, smelled like camp!

Must have been the garlic mustard that made such a good fire!!

We had a fire yesterday, too, but ours was inside...very unusual for mid-May. We've had nearly 3 days of cold rain and drizzle. I hope your weather gets here (MA) soon.

I'm just discovering the remarkable wisdom of John Muir. Thanks for the quote.

Beautiful images..
I once read that two of nature's most relaxing sounds are a crackling fire and the sound of waves crashing on the beach..
