Vows

I can recall flowers from many occasions--
sometimes more than the words that were said as they were given.
To bring comfort or healing, as expressions of joy or celebration, they add life to our lives.
And remind us of its beauty.

The tender petals that soften the stone interior of a large church,

stand atop stems that occupy a young woman’s hands--
until hers are joined with her husband’s

and share, with them, their first day as man and wife.

Witnesses to their vows.

My younger daughter was married Saturday.
I still remember the flowers from the day she was born.
Passing 23 years in a day.

Congrats to your daughter and her husband Nina. It sounds like you had quite the emotional weekend.

Yellow roses always remind me of my brother that has passed. He sent me yellow roses when I had surgery so many years ago. I never see a yellow rose that I don't think of him.
