Absolutely gorgeous, Nina, as if I can hear the silence for myself.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and gorgeous images throughout the year - they often have brought me comfort and happy thoughts as I go through my day.
Lovely photos -especially the berries. Winter is nice for a time...especially around Christmas I love it too. (After that,it's services are no longer required and it can leave.) Merry Christmas!
It's beautiful - looks a lot like hibernation, to me! A couple of quick snows here so unlike each of the last two years when 90+ inches fell in a short span of time and stayed for months.
Lovely walk through the woods, Nina! The weather seems to be on so many minds these days--we have had the "slightest" of snow, too, and now it's raining. I'm hoping for a white Christmas, not an icy one.
Thanks for sharing, and wishing you happy Holidays!
Lovely pictures!! Thank you for all your wonderful posts. Please continue 2010!! At this Christmas Season we remember and honour those who are no longer with us and cherish those who are.
Peace On Earth and best wishes throughout the New Year
.........so magnificient and peaceful.....i love it; it looks a little alike my woods and our weather right now..!! Have a happy and joyful new year!!! ciao ciao elvira

The Adventures of Red Canoe
Come along in Red Canoe as she explores the quiet backwater of Ohio's State Parks and the scenic streams and rivers of the Midwest. Discover the beauty hidden beyond the water's edge, quietly waiting, past access points, often only inches deep!
Grabbing every minute I can find to be outside--walking in it, sleeping in it ... breathing it in. The natural world has so much beauty to uncover.
It is my hope that by capturing my experiences with nature and by sharing the richness it adds to an ordinary life, others may discover the greatest gift waiting just outside their door.
In Spring of 2008, I began the study of 2 vernal pools on my property as part of theOhio Vernal Pool Partnershipmonitoring program.My2008 journalincludes the first photos and findings, as I studied this fascinating wetland area just a few steps beyond my backdoor...
2009 photos and findings,2010,... again! Now, 4 years later, another season is just days away!
A regularly appearing feature, "Have you seen..." takes a closer, more patient look at things usually not seen in a flattering light.Take a look!
The Sweetness of Spring
Each spring, as winter lessens its grip and days warm with the first fragrant breezes of a new season, we collect sap from our Sugar Maples and produce just enough syrup for ourselves for the coming year. The progress of this year's backyard endeavor is illustrated here.
A Bird's Life
Summer 2008, the tiny jewel of the avian world, a Ruby-throated Hummingbird, nested just feet from my front door. Pictures of her nest and the changing lives within are collected in thisjournal. From life the size of a pea....

A beautiful post to celebrate the solstice with :)
I can hear the quiet :D These are great shots. I esp like those bright red berries. We are buried in snow here.
Happy holidays.
Great images - what Winter's all about.
That's how I like my snow; in pictures.
Love that shot of the woods, with the branches outlined with the snow.

weather - I see a recurring theme. 3 out of the 1st 9 ABC posts, including mine.
Beautiful closeups. I love the blob of snow balanced on the thistle.
I was happy to see the sun today after a week of murky, damp weather.
Winter weather can be frightful, but it also gives one rare photographic opportunities.
Wonderful! The diversity of ABC Wednesday is awesome! Thanks so much for contributing!
Merry Christmas
