This morning was bright and crisp.
Barely a covering of Saturday's snowfall remains--a thin crusty layer across the wide expanse of grass. Still early, the air already warming.
In the woods, the frozen pools cycle back and forth. Ice to water to ice.
Fallen leaves join empty branches--a reflection on the dark clear water.
The little pond is quiet now. The stalks where peepers sang loudly last week, stand silent.
Each icy star, a little frog's world.
From inside my house this evening,
I can hear the peepers calling loudly from across the yard.

Wow, beautiful shots Nina.
Nice shots. I especially like the broken up ice and reflections.
Our peepers are in full chorus and the pond is loaded with tadpoles. With a high temp around 75ยบ our only ice is in the freezer compartment. It's hard to believe that this time last week we were on the verge of receiving nine inches of snow.
Great shots Nina. Love the idea of little frogs having thier own star worlds.
A nice post, Nina. Before we know it, we'll be walking and finding every little new sprout in the woods, the peepers will be singing, grasshoppers buzzing, and we'll be swatting at "no-see-ums." A couple of days ago, while walking, we actually were swarmed by little gnats, even though it was only in the 40s!!!
Nina, I'll bet that's the last time you'll see ice. We'll visit here and see blossoms soon.
I love how well you match up images and reflections. I particularly appreciate it because it's something I'm trying to do on one of my projects.
Wow--still no peepers on the marsh yet, but the birds are singing more loudly every day, and the temp is up in the 50s today!
