Chasing butterflies

I spent the day chasing butterflies.
Two swallowtails that took me dancing
and skipping through the field,
my eyes fixed on their playful, winding flight.

My feet following,

I knew not where.

Until the sun escaped us,

and I lost them in the sky.

Carried on a breeze that sounded of children’s laughter.

I know the feeling. I've been chasing Eastern Tiger Swallowtails for the past two days.

The hummingbirds are coming along. It's amazing to me that you found the nest in the first place. It looks to be well camouflaged. You must have incredible vision.

Sounds like you had a good time! The nesting pictures you taken are fascinating. It's great to hear that you are taking such care not to disturb the nest.

Once upon a time there was this great and fantastic group of people who blogged and photographed … with a click, click here, a snap, snap there, all of them had a week to look upon the sky … day and night, by dusk or dawn, sunrise or sunset … and always there where great and fantastic photos to be seen when SKY WATCH was opened …

I am one of those proud sky watchers and I really enjoy each and every one of the photos you show us. I really think you are a first class sky watcher!

This is not an easy picture to take and even more difficult to keep in focus.

I love the verse you have selected to go with your image. Poetry is one of my life's loves ...

You're like me! I've never gotten a swallowtail of any sort to be still for a picture. I am always amazed when I see one in a picture. A nice way to spend the day, though!

You're a very lucky person if you get a snapshot of a butterfly up close. If the butterfly flies away, most people would just give up. However, you took full advantage of the flying butterfly and perfectly captured it's beautiful black silhouette against the bright blue sky.
