The New River Birding and Nature Festival is just days away--
a long-awaited gathering,
to the mountains of West Virginia,
as spring brings hundreds together there—
birds and people.
And, this year, the bloggers.
to the mountains of West Virginia,
as spring brings hundreds together there—
birds and people.
And, this year, the bloggers.
New year, new faces,
new gear, new places,
new bugs, new birds, new peers.
New trails, new climbs,
new tales, new times,
new smiles, new laughs, new tears.
Though piles of things I’ll bring with me,
lie scattered about the floor.
What I’ll bring back, just days from now,
I know is even more.
New River.
New friends.

I'm looking at the pile on my bed...shaking my head...
Remind me again that there are stores in Fayetteville.
Soon!
I am feeling very underpacked--except for clothes.
Which I can't seem to decide upon...cold, rainy, hot, muggy, long, short...
but have swapped the small suitcase for the larger one. Uh-oh.
Hope you have a great time and great birding weather. Our resident mourning doves are working on batch #2 for this season already. Cheers!
I wish I had more t$me and $$ I would love to join this group. I will have to settle on reading all the wonderful reports of the activities. Have a great time.
Have fun on your nature birding time and come back with loads of pictures.
That must be good News!

I just love the salamander in your side bar. Such a cute little critter.
Look forward to seeing photos from your trip! Sounds like great fun!
The festival sounds like a lot of fun. Hope you have good weather and good viewing. You'll undoubtedly have good human company.
A great time coming up for all birds, feathered and human.
the cold, damp, wind and rain are all worth it once you view the birds. Enjoy.
By the time I pack all the gear, food, and electronics there won't be any room left for clothes.
I can't believe it's almost here.
Looks like a good time!
Oh my gosh! I am so excited for you! I hope you have an absolutely WONDERFUL time! Blessings to you and your blogging friends!
A lot of 'new' things in there!
You'll have a great time! I've met up with Johnny Depp fans who I met on the internet. and it's always been great fun!
Nothing like pursuing a hobby with new friends, is there?
Sounds exciting Nina. Have fun!
How exciting! Have a great time!
Nina, thanks for the list of new blogs for me to surf. Hope the festival is grand.
I love your poem and I am thrilled to be meeting you and all the bloggers. I too am having great difficulty deciding on what clothes to take. I don't want to need raingear or a winter jacket, but I better take both! And I don't even have to pack for the week since I'm not arriving until Thursday night.
Yes, Kathleen--both!
Spring is that great season that's a little bit of everything, isn't it?!
What a wonderful in-gathering of delightful and interesting folks. Wishing you all a fantastic time!
Wishing you a wonderful time -
How can it be anything else?
