The field behind our woods has been plowed and planted. And the first green to appear reveals that, this year, it is to be corn.
I've never given it a second thought. The choice of crops. The alternating cycle between corn and soybeans has, in the past, seemed simple.
And although I prefer to walk this lane between fields of soy, where afternoon breezes make the golden plants sway in autumn, the tall stalks of corn will soon transform this path into a tunnel of sorts.
A changed place.
Filling this brown space with a green leafy wall, hiding our woods.
And the geese and deer that walk here.
I wonder if, this year, it is something other than "simple."
And if this field now grows, not fodder, but fuel.
Ethanol.
A wind turbine spins gloriously as the clouds pass.
The landscape is changing.

Beautiful pictures and an interesting post. I looked at your previous posts to catch up, too. All wonderful, as always, Nina!
Your posts are always interesting. I was born this close to a farm and watched the horse and farmer plant single rows of corn at a time. Those were the days when there were no machines in the fields.
Ah corn fields and great skies.
my double reflection is now up please feel free to visit-thanks.
What dreamy skies....
Lovely skies and changing landscape. You'll have to include a shot later showing us the sky through the corn stalks :0)
Beautiful and interesting, well done.
Here is something I love seeing ... huge and plain fields giving us a nice sensation of space ... and the smell that comes from fresh plowed soil ...
the first photo clouds are gorgeous - they show such depth of the landscape.

Beautiful prose to match your lovely photos! God bless.
Nina-
Yeah, the whole idea of burning our food instead of eating it is a bit strange and one that we will hopefully soon abandon.

A really lovely sky.
Great clouds floating above your changing landscape.
Wonderful walk between fields!
Nothing is so beautiful as yellow korns waving in the wind in the early autum...
Nice weekend wishes to you, from me in Norway.
Lovely shots. I hope the corn is for eating this summer! :)
beautiful pictures!
Always a beautiful taken.
What a beatuful place to walk. How the world IS changing! Somethings we try to do to help the environment aren't always the best. Wind energy is a good alternative, but a sky full of wind turbines isn't nearly as pretty as one without them and they can be quite hazardous to birds. What's the solution? I don't know, but whoever thought corn would become so contraversial or affect the price of everything else! Love the photos and your stimulating comments.
What a beautiful place to live:)
