Have you seen...

The field has covered itself in little wild onions.
From edge to edge, the dirt exposed after last fall's soybean harvest barely peeks through, now--the fresh bluish-green haze, like a five-o'clock shadow, announcing spring--stretching across these 40 acres.
Green on green, the curly-tops catch the afternoon sun on their winding, playful stems.
Waiting to release that unmistakable aroma,
when the plow returns to recapture the land.

Until then, they run free.

"Have you seen...." is an effort to discover the unusual beauty in things not usually appreciated for their beauty.

Thanks to Wigger's World for hosting Skywatch Friday each week at his site!
And to Anna Carson for hosting Project Green.

Well, I knOw that green field is what I'm SUPPOSED to be lookin' at ... but I am LOVING those cloud formations... the ones that are NOT green! LOL! However... the squiggly little onion plant beneath is verrrrrry cool too! Nice!

This is great. I like how you got in close on this. The lines created are attractive and the green is wonderful. I briefly browsed some of your other images here. You do great work capturing nature. I look forward to coming back.

Beautiful field and sky and each of those plants is like a little work of art. Beautiful and adds a new depth to my appreciation of onions.

I had not thought of a wild onion as being pretty, but this post shows them in different light. And I totally enjoyed your Sky Watch photograph.

fantastic one! Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books. mine's up too, hope you'll visit mine.

Simple but really peaceful and beautiful.

Great bunch of pictues! I get the "unmistakeable aroma" of those wild onions when I do the first mowing of the year.

I'm so envious of your vernal pool project participation. I have acres of wetlands and beaver bogs in front of me but only have weekends to explore. And I fear entering it because I don't want to disturb one single molecule of its perfection. I need to be trained in how to do that (if possible or if legal even). Your photos are beautiful. Those curly tendrils are exquisite.
