Wide sky

Nothing refreshes my mind better than a walk beneath a wide sky.

The fields bordering this lane will soon be planted--in soybeans or corn, the latter becoming so high by summer's end, that the lane becomes but a narrow path, almost swallowed by a sea of towering stalks.
But in spring, the expanse of dirt awaiting the farmer's massive machines seems to roll endlessly to the horizon.
Changing winds have scattered clouds to the east--backlit by the setting sun.

Nothing but bright blue beyond--
my thoughts of the day float away.
